Bloggy Giveaway!

I stumbled across something fun in the blogosphere, the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival! Hundreds of blogs all giving something away! I thought I would jump in and join the fun, while highlighting a ministry. If you haven't been here before, I'm a homeschooling mom of 4 girls (5 and under!) and I blog about couponing, mom tips, freebies, and Christian Living, with a sprinkling of family updates and other topics. If that interests you, please subscribe (on the right hand side) so you don't miss anything!

Okay, back to the giveaway! I wanted to highlight an important ministry that is easy to support. S.O.U.L., which stands for Shine On Us Lord, is part of the SOUL Light Link Ministry in Quito, Ecuador. It is a card making ministry run by international women in prison there. These women have found new faith in Jesus and making these cards is their only source of income, which they need to buy basic necessities, like blankets and toiletries, which are not provided by the prison.

BUY IT: Would you like to purchase some cards? Not only would you be supporting these women in living an honorable lifestyle, you would receive some gorgeous, unique, handmade cards as well! You can choose from packs of happy birthday, all occasion, inspiration, friendship/thinking of you, thank you, and Christmas, and are all blank on the inside. They are sold in packets of 5 cards for $10. $2 per card is a bargain these days, and these cards are handmade! If you are interested in buying a packet of cards to support this ministry and help these women earn money in an honorable way and stay on a path that is pleasing to the Lord, mail a $10 check with a note about what you would like to purchase to:

SOUL Light Link
2900 Weldon Lane
Vestavia Hills, AL 35216

WIN IT: To receive an entry to win a packet of 5 cards, leave a comment below about how I can improve my blog. I'm new at this, so I'd like some help! What do you like and what would you like to see more of? Make sure I have a way to contact you if you win. If your profile doesn't have an email address listed, leave it in the comments in this format: yourname(at)yahoo(dot)com. You can earn another entry by leaving a separate comment if you are a subscriber, telling me how you subscribe (in a reader or by email). You can earn another entry by blogging about my giveaway and linking to this post in your blog so that others can come and enter too! Just leave a separate comment telling me you blogged about it and leaving the link to your blog post. Commenting is open until Friday, October 31st at midnight and I will randomly select a winner on Saturday, November 1st. I will contact the winner by email, and if I don't hear back from them by Monday, I will select a new winner. This contest is open to addresses in the continental US only. Thanks for entering and good luck!

Go to the master list of Bloggy Giveaways to enter 1000 more! (I'm #978!)

I like your blog and all the couponing hints and tips. Keep going! and the cards are very pretty. Thank you for the giveaway.

I've purchased these cards before and they're wonderful -- and more importantly, a wonderful cause! A GREAT giveaway idea, Jessica!

I love you blog -- the only thing I can think of to add would be coupon matchups for our local groceries (or links to where they can be found).

Maybe I could help you with it? :)

I think your blog is great. I read several blogs daily. I also read Blogging for Dummies and I think the main thing is to post often and a picture improves the chance someone will read that post and you do post often and usually have a picture. You write about things you know about and are passionate about and that comes through in your blog.

I don't know if I would necessarily change this but I have noticed your blog is mostly positive. You don't blog about any of your own insecurities or about the typical 'bad-day-stuff' (i.e. kids don't go to bed at night, fighting with each other, kids break something or embarrass you when you're out somewhere) I've noticed those topics in other blogs. They're entertaining and make you think and feel like you're not the only family with those issues. Again, I don't know if I'd necessarily change that, because that's not really who you are. Just something I noticed. I do enjoy reading your blog.

I don't know if my e-mail shows up or not. I log in under an old Google account. My e-mail is taradebruin(at)yahoo(dot)com.

I would add a header, and maybe make things a little less pink. Otherwise, it looks good!

Jessica, I would like to see a header (and if you figure out how to do it let me know!) and I also like the idea of pictures in the blog - I think you do pretty well at this so not really a change but a "keep it up"

I also really enjoy the frugal tips on here.... and the deals I miss!! You've helped me save a lot of money. :)

I think your blog is lovely, but some cute graphics would be nice!

I agree, I think a graphic header and maybe a catchier color would be an improvement to your blog. You're doing great for a newbie! Thanks for the chance to win! alicia m horn at gmail dot com

Honestly, I'm so new at this myself. But the white hurts my eyes. I like pink but with white its sooooo bright.

Love the scripture at the top. Great idea asking for good feedback.

Blessings.

A nice header always catches peoples eye.

I 17th the header idea and I think I would tone the pink down a little. Sometimes when reading a longer post it just wears on the eyes a bit! Blogger has a lot of nice templates that are really easy on the eyes and super easy to change without really messing up the general lay out and side bars of your blog.

I don't need to be entered to win this, but I just wanted to ask you how you found out about this ministry. My parents are missionaries in Quito (with a different mission) and I grew up there. Now I'm a missionary myself, all the way on the other side of the world. One of our friends works with prison ministry there in Quito too. She is also a nurse. I'd love to talk to you!!!

Hi there,
I love everything about your blog but my favorite part is the information about Christian education for kids (like cd ideas or other teaching tools you use). You do an excellent job with your girls!

I love your blog! For improvements I would suggest more colors and an eye-catching header :)

Thank you for the great giveaway!

I think you blog looks nice. Maybe you could get someone to make you a cute header. I know there are some Bloggy Giveaways for some - hope you win!

Hi Jessica,
I don't want to be entered, but I found your blog off of Shannon's and really like it. You can find blog templates for free at thecutestblogontheblock.com or just search free blogger templates. They have easy to use templates with headers, too! ;) Or, blogger lets you put in your own picture and title. I've done that on my blog, also linked from Shannon's.

I'd like to see more about homeschooling-what a typical day looks like, how you juggle kids of the various ages on a daily basis, whether the curriculum you chose is working, etc.

Hope you're well, and all the best! -Sara Klawikowski

I can't think of anything. I really like how you have it set up all nice and clean. Well organized. Easy to navigate.

I think you're already doing a super job

I think you should add a personal style design that says who you are, I love custom designs.

Your blog is easy to navigate, and links make sense. I second the "tone down the pink" comment. Other than that, no problem

Ren said...

If you want it more personalized, try changing up your background. It's really easy to do.

I love the freebies and coupons. I'm just getting into the coupon thing, and love to hear how others are saving money and how I can do it better.
