Weekly Shopping--I got paid!

This week was the first time the cashier opened the register and handed me money! You can see on my receipt that she gave me $1.66! On my first transaction I had earned a $7 catalina for the Unilever products. She asked if I wanted to use it right away for this transaction, but I said I wanted to use my other coupons first and would see. After ringing through my other coupons, my total was $5 something, so I told her I would just use it next time. She said no, it was fine to use it this time and they would just owe me money. I was surprised, and so was the guy in line after me!

Another thing this receipt illustrates is the Kellogg's deal. It worked just like the General Mills deal a few weeks ago, where the $10 came off as a "coupon", which is why my total went down so low. My total was over $25 before the $10 Kellogg's promo coupon and before my doubled coupons. I also used a free item coupon from the Pace sweeps to help me reach my $25, and the salsa was better than free since it took off the full $4 and the salsa was only $3.65.

Overall I did 4 transactions and doubled 20 coupons. I spent $31.10 and saved $86.07, or 73%. I already mentioned the free Pace salsa, but I also got Jell-O Mousse x1, Wishbone spritzer x1, and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter x2 free.

Other good deals were the Keebler/Kellogg's products x8 ($0.38 each after coupons), Reynolds Wrap x2 ($0.99 each), Pillsbury products x6 ($0.41 each after coupons and catalina), and the Unilever items (Wishbone, Ragu, Skippy, Knorr, Butter)--I got 3 of the items free and paid $0.11 each for the other 11 items after coupons and catalina. I also saved $1 for reaching my "personal perk" and $0.30 in reusable bag refunds. The Frigo string cheese was apparently a misprint in the ad, so those weren't as good a deal as I had thought ($4.65 each instead of $0.99 each--bummer), but I had already used my coupons on them and we will eat them since string cheese is a good quick snack.

Along with my Walgreens run, I spent a total of $51.58 this week.

How do you organize your coupons? I feel like mine are a bit chaotic but don't know how to best organize them.

Good question, Claire, and I've been meaning to do a post on that. The short answer is I don't really organize my coupons--shocker! You have to find what works for you and go with it. I will do a post soon, I promise!! :-)

Great cashier! I think you should name you next baby girl after her. ;)
I had that happen a couple time with the milk coupons when I'd go in and just get milk--that was before double coupon days though. Now I use those milk coupons to get up to my $25 threshold.

AWESOME job Jessica!! I skipped this wk as we really didn't need anything. It's always fun for me to read your posts on what you got.

Good job! It's exciting to get so much for your money.

One thing to note: I don't think cashiers are every supposed to give you money - so please don't take any in the future. If your balance is negative, then you will have to grab some gum or a candy bar so that it at least equals zero. I know this is their policy - but the cashier probably did not know that.

Wow - that is awesome!! I pay tax for food here so I don't think I could ever do as well as getting momney back.

I honestly tried to take the catalina back from her hand, saying I was perfectly fine using it on my next transaction, but she pulled it back and insisted. It was like she wanted to give me the money. I spend enough every week at the store (and she sees me every week) that I would have been able to use it later, no problem. I don't like throwing gum or candy or anything else I don't need onto my order just to make it positive--I honestly would have just used it later. She insisted.

Nice!
And I thought I hit the jackpot this week only paying $3.49 for 8 boxes of Kellog's (bars and cereal mix), Bag of Cameron coffee (4.99 full price!) and 2 cans of campbell's!

Been reading that Rainbow in MN is doing doubles on Saturdays too now. I asked at the store yesterday here and they said they only do it on Wednesdays.

Lene-
I also heard about the Saturday doubles, but my store hadn't heard anything about it either. Oh well--Wednesdays it is! :-)

Jessica - great shopping!....fyi I e-mailed Roundy's today requesting that they expand the doubles to Wisconsin on Saturdays. Here is the response I got : "Thank you for your comments and suggestions. You are correct in what you have heard about Rainbow. It is a promotion that potentially may or may not be expanded into Wisconsin stores. Stay tuned for further details and thank you for shopping at Pick 'n Save!"

I hoping that enough people request it they will consider it. I follow PYD so I know you called this morning as well. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

Wow! That's impressive. I've never gotten money back before. I almost did once at Target, but the girl just gave my last coupon back instead of ringing it in and owing me money.
:)
Great week!
