Roundy's Coupon Matches

Roundy's stores (Copps, Pick 'n Save, and Rainbow) double 5 coupons up to $1 per $25 order every Wednesday (and Rainbow is doubling on Saturdays, too!). There are several deals this week, so here are some printable coupon matches to help you make your list. Check your coupon stash to see if you can find more matches. For printing tips, click here. By far, the best deal of the week is the General Mills cereal, eggs, and milk, which you can get for free if you have the right coupons!
==================================
General Mills cereal buy 6 boxes, get $10 off plus a coupon for free gallon of milk and one dozen eggs ($5.50 value)
$0.55/1 Chocolate Cheerios
$0.75/1 Wheaties Fuel
$0.75/1 Fiber One Cereals

$1/1 Select General Mills Cereals here
$1/2 Cheerios here
More here
Hopefully you printed off the $1/1 Cheerios and $1/1 Honey Nut Cheerios coupons I told you about here and here, because they are gone now!
**Here's how it shakes out: Buy 6 boxes at approximately $3.50 each, making your total $21. Buy $5 more of stuff on your list (w/o coupons) to bring your total above $25 so your coupons will double. The $10 will come off as a cereal coupon (it did last time), and you will double 5 coupons (make sure to hand the higher values first so they double) and use one coupon not doubled, which will bring your total down about $11 more. You will pay for the $5 in other items, (getting the cereal for free) AND get catalinas for free milk and eggs OYNO, which usually will take off more than the amount, making them better than free!

So, if you did the cereal deal what would be your estimated OOP costs?
Again, my pregnant brain is not able to fully understand :)

Claire-
It depends on what coupons you have. I have several $1/1 coupons, so my cereal should all be free, and I will get catalinas for milk and eggs. So my only OOP for that first transaction should be the $5-$6 for the other "filler" items.

On my next transaction I will get the milk and eggs and use the catalinas, and they will likely take off the full $5.50 even though milk is about $2.40 and eggs are on sale for $0.99, so I will have some overage in the 2nd transaction to apply toward the other $22 worth of groceries in that order.

If you didn't print off the $1/1 coupons and only have the coupons listed above, your OOP for the cereal will be a little more, but still worth it. Again, assuming $3.50 per box, if you use coupons $1/2, $0.75/1, $0.75/1, $0.75/1, and $0.75/1, they will all double taking off $8, plus the $10 promo will come off. Your OOP will be only $3 for 6 boxes of cereal AND you will get the catalinas. You will be able to "recoup" some of that $3 in your next transaction when you get the overage on the milk and eggs.

Does that make sense? If it's still not clear, let me know. This is why I don't pay for cereal (or NEVER more than $1 a box)!

Makes perfect sense! That's what I thought but I wasn't sure so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask! Thank you!!

Here's what happens to me...
I have them scan my cereal and other goods that bring me to what should total $25. But once they do that 6th box of cereal, the computer instantly deducts the $10 off as the rest of the stuff is being scanned. Then when I think i'm at $25 and have them hit total, I'm low because it took the $10 off already, so I have to add $10 more worth of stuff to the order to get to $25 to use my double coupons.
How do you not have this problem?

Heidi-
Have you had them scan a coupon to see if it would double? I have had cashiers say they think the total is too low so the coupons won't double, but I ask them to try and so far they do anyway. You can have $10 more of stuff in your cart just in case, but that has been my experience.

ooh i'll try that tomorrow. wish me luck!!! I'm hoping to come back with a $5 receipt like you do. ;) Oh and last week the register printed out a $2 off any order coupon for me too. I could pull of $3 maybe. :)

Good luck, Heidi! Come back and let me know! :-)

I just wanted to let you know that I'm so glad I found your site. I'm from a small town in northern WI and the only grocery store we have is a Copps/Roundy.
But I wanted to tell you that today I had 2 coupons for $1.00 off of Angel Soft TP. So when I was picking two packs up there also was a coupon by them for $2.00 off your grocery bill if you bought two packs. So by getting my coupons doubled (4.00) plus the $2.00 off I got my 12 double roll toilet paper for 2.50 each. I was excited and just had to share.

I had a pretty awesome shopping trip! I did 3!! transactions!!! I just couldn't pass up on this deal really so I found all the coupons I could!
I paid about $8.50 for each transaction but still have a $3.50 milk coupon and two $1.75 egg coupons!!
We are stocked on cereal for sure! We'll be eating Multi-Grain Cheerios for a long time! S also noted that we should donate some cereal, which is an excellent idea!

Okay so here's what happened: i got my 6 boxes of cereal and two jars of applesauce. I thought my total was going to be just over $25, but it was actually 24.82. So my cashier (whom I might add was not AT ALL happy to be there) started doing my coupons, but I stopped her after the first two didn't double. Of course, the $10 was taken off automatically, so my total when she started scanning coupons was 14-something. So anyway, then I had to add a bunch of things to get it back to $25 and then she had to manually double the two coupons she had already scanned and the other 3 coupons doubled themselves when she scanned them. Now, it didn't really matter that I added that stuff on because I was planning to buy it anyway, but I was all flustered with the coupon thing in the first place. Oh well, I learned. So I think if next time I make sure it's over $25 before the $10 comes off then my coupons would have automatically started doubling when she scanned them. Okay that was the first transaction.
I ended up doing everything in the first transaction except for the milk and eggs that I would get free in the next transaction. So the cashier scans the eggs and milk and I hand her both coupons for those items. She scans one and my total left is $.18. She asks if I just want the other coupon back since my total is only $.18 and she can't give me cash back. I said "Really, because I have a friend who gets cash back." The girl gives me a LOOK and then scans the coupon which brings my total to -$1.57. Then she had to get an override card to give me the cash back. And she didn't even look at me handing me my change. HA! All I could think to myself as I was leaving was if that was really a policy, she wouldn't have immediately scanned it and the other person who had to override wouldn't have done that. Whatever. So all in all, I got a good deal, but it was flustering at the same time. We'll see what next week holds! :)

Thanks for posting all the coupons on your blog- it DOES make it easy to get started and feel like you can just jump in and start saving. Thanks for taking the time to do that.
