Weekly Groceries for 2 Weeks

This week was a good week, especially for cereal and milk! I did the cereal deal twice, and did a total of four transactions. I spent $35.31 for 53 items, with a savings of $93.52. I was counting on having a low week after stocking up so much in November!

Cereal Deal #1: Honey Nut Cheerios x2, Total x2, Banana Nut Cheerios x2 = $22.54 - $10 register savings - $11 coupons = $1.54 + milk ($1.98) - $3.25 catalina = $0.27 for 6 boxes of cereal and 1 gallon of milk!

Cereal Deal #2: Cheerios x2, Chex x2, Multigrain Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs = $19.36 - $10 register savings - $7.20 coupons = $2.16 + milk ($1.98) - $3.25 catalina = $0.89 for 6 boxes of cereal and 1 gallon of milk!
These items were free: 2 Fiber One Yogurt (I had one $1 coupon and one BOGO coupon), Tree Top juice boxes x4.

These items were $1 or less: Success Rice, Aunt Jemima Pancakes x4, Red food coloring, Gravy mixes x4, Country Crock, eggs, butter, bread x5, brown sugar x2, sugar, pudding x2, Nestle chocolate chips x2, cereal x12 and milk x2 (these could practically go in the free pile, though!).
*******************************************************************
Last week was my last day of stocking up before our company arrived for Thanksgiving. I didn't take a picture because I was literally down to the minute with last minute cleaning and prep while my husband picked up some of our guests from the airport. I did 5 transactions and spent $79.88 (ouch!) on 70 items. I saved $105.93. Not my best week, obviously, but we did have 14 for Thanksgiving.

These items were free: Dole fruit x2, Taco seasoning x3, Peppermint extract, Parkay x2, Muir Glen organic diced tomatoes.

These items were $1 or less: Taco seasoning x4, Air Wick mini x2, Green Giant vegetables x6, eggs x4, cream of chicken and mushroom soups x8, Hungry Jack pancake mix, Freschetta Pizza x2, White Shells x2, 2 veggie dips, Wishbone dressing.

I also bought LOTS of fresh produce, milk x4, brats x2, Tostitos x3, sliced cheese x3, and 2 pies.

That's it for me. Now tell me about you! Did you do the cereal deal this week? Has your shopping bill been going down? Please leave me a comment because I love to know that I'm helping someone!

Motor Oil Matters Giveaway!

How do you take care of your vehicle? Do you get your oil changed regularly? Do you or someone else change your own oil or do you take it somewhere and have it done for you?

In high school I took a class about cars and learned how to change the oil, and in the process spilled oil ALL over myself. At school. (Okay, now you know one of my embarrassing moments. I'll wait for your laughter to die down before continuing.) Needless to say, I don't change my own oil. I ALWAYS take it somewhere to be done.

The auto industry has noticed that more and more women are taking control of their vehicle maintenance. According to a recent study, 9 out of 10 women were involved with their vehicle's maintenance and repair. I am the one in our family who schedules oil changes and repairs to be done. My husband simply doesn't have time, and since I am a stay-at-home mom, I can easily make a phone call to schedule things. Frequently I will schlep all four kids with me while we get the oil changed in the minivan!

Apparently the average age of cars and light trucks has now reached over 9 years. Taking proper care of your vehicle can increase it's lifetime, saving you money in the long run. MotorOilMatters.org now has a website created by oil retailers where you can get information about prolonging your engine's life and efficiency. There is also an interactive quiz called "M.O.M Knows Best" where you can test your motor mind and learn some things about your engine.

My Blog Spark invited me to check out this website and also gave me a $35 gift card to get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube, provided by Shell Lubricants and MotorOilMatters.org. I haven't had a chance to get my oil changed yet because I got it changed JUST before I heard about this, but I am going to give it to my sister so she can get her oil changed.

My Blog Spark and MotorOilMatters.org want to give one of YOU a $35 Jiffy Lube gift card as well! To find out if there is a Jiffy Lube near you, go here.

To enter the giveaway:

  • Go take the M.O.M. quiz and let me know how you scored.
  • Leave another comment if you are a subscriber via email or RSS.
  • Leave another comment if you are a google follower.
  • Leave another comment if my button is on your blog's sidebar, or if my blog is listed on your blogroll. Leave your blog's address so I can visit you! :-)
This giveaway will end on December 15, when I will pick a winner using Random.org. I will contact the winner by email to get their address, which I will pass along to My Blog Spark so they can mail out your prize.

YoPlus and FiberOne Coupons=Free Yogurt!

Here is a $1/1 YoPlus coupon for you to print off to get some better than free yogurt today on double coupon day! Thanks to Richelle for the idea of checking the Yoplait website. Here is a $1/1 Fiber One coupon as well. Unfortunately it wouldn't let me print either one of these because I have printed them in the past, but maybe they will work for some of you, so I wanted to pass it along just in case.

Richelle also asked about the "Do not double" wording on the coupons. This is a common question. That means the manufacturer will not pay double the value of the coupon. Instead, the store is offering the double because they want you to shop there. So even if the coupons say "do not double", they should double anyway. If a cashier questions you, just ask them to scan them and see what happens. They will double automatically. If they still question you, politely ask for a manager.

Happy Double Couponing today!
Come back and let me know what you scored! :-)
