Amazon Diaper Deals (exp 7/30)

I just bought some diapers on Amazon and thought some of you might be interested as well. I paid the equivalent of $4.61 for a jumbo pack of Huggies diapers delivered free to my door, and I didn't have to watch sales, clip coupons, or leave my house!

To take advantage of this deal:

  • Sign up for Amazon Mom, if you aren't already, to save 15% off your order
  • Select the size of Huggies diapers you'd like (there is a drop-down menu with sizes)
  • Scroll down and click on the box that says clip coupon (expires 7/31) and you will save an extra $2 at checkout.
  • Select "Subscribe and Save" on the right side to take an extra 15% off your order. You can cancel this subscription through your account after your order ships.
  • I ordered size 4 and my total was $20.89, down from $32.70. If you order size 1-2, your price will be even lower, about $0.10 per diaper!
Bonus: If you are an Amazon Mom member, this purchase will qualify you for another month of free prime membership with free shipping on any orders (not just baby products)!

If you don't like Huggies, do a search for Pampers or any other type of diaper you prefer. There is also a coupon for Pampers diapers on the Amazon coupon page (expires 7/30). I have found Amazon's diaper prices to be very competitive with the added benefit of having them delivered!

$1.00/1 Shredded Wheat Coupon

Print off a $1.00/1 Shredded Wheat coupon! When doubled and paired with a sale, this should make for some inexpensive Shredded Wheat, which is a brand we don't often see coupons for. You could also use it on the small boxes of Shredded Wheat at Walgreens for as low as $1, making them free!

While you are there, browse the other coupons and offers available. :-)

Simple Strawberry Syrup

I've already made a bunch of strawberry freezer jam, and this year I also wanted to make some strawberry syrup! We love having pancakes on the weekend, and I love flavored syrups. This recipe also freezes well so you can make a bunch now and have warm strawberry syrup anytime!
First, cut up your strawberries.Mash them until you have 1 1/2 cups of mashed, unsweetened strawberries.
Boil 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar.Add the mashed strawberries and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. You can stop here if you like your syrup to be chunky. I used my hand blender to puree it a bit in the pot, making it mostly smooth with a few chunks.
Pour into containers and enjoy fresh or freeze for later.

A Lesson Learned

Lessons can be learned in all sorts of unexpected ways...

This summer the girls and I are going through some cute books called "Home Economics for Home Schoolers" from Pearables because we didn't get to them during our school year. They are fun little lessons to do during the summer and we are enjoying them!

Last week we learned how to peel, cut, and make cute carrot sticks with a garnishing tool. Simple, fun, and the girls were eating carrots like never before! It was great!

Today I was making lunch and I suggested that H, G, and M make carrot sticks. They eagerly agreed! I was helping them with the tricky parts, warning about the garnishing tool's sharp edges and such, when it slipped and I sliced into my thumb.

I thought I would be fine, but then I got light-headed and felt sick and sweaty. After a bunch of hub-bub which included calling my husband who immediately left work (about 25 minutes away) and then a friend who lives nearby who piled 5 kids into the car and drove right over, it finally stopped bleeding and I didn't pass out. :-)

The upside is the girls got to have an unexpected lunch with friends and they all learned that when I say something is sharp, I mean it!

Mailbox Monday: Tuesday Edition

We were out of town this weekend, spending time with my in-laws at their cottage. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time, which is why the freebies post is late! :-) I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July festivities as well!
