Crayola Back To School Giveaway

It's back to school shopping time! Does anyone else get excited about that, or is it the teacher in me? Who can resist brand new crayons and markers and freshly sharpened pencils? Or maybe it's the frugalista in me, because there are always so many great back-to-school deals!

To celebrate going back to school, I was given the opportunity to review some new Crayola products through MyBlogSpark, and we're going to do a giveaway as well! They sent me a package of new markers, crayons, and colored pencils. H and G excitedly tried them out for me!

G drew the new markers with black barrels. Black is the new green, did you hear? Crayola has started making the barrels of their markers black so they can use more recycled bottle caps, making them more "green"! The new black barrels keeps tons of recycled plastic out of the landfills each year. Go Crayola!

Crayola has also gone "green" with their colored pencils and crayons. Their colored pencils are made from reforested wood, and their crayons are made with solar power. They have over 26,000 solar panels that provide the energy to make more than 1 billion crayons every year, a third of their annual crayon production. Hopefully initiatives like this will help keep our neighborhoods looking beautiful like H's picture for years to come. :-)

  63. We're learning to be green by limiting our use of paper towels. We've found them to be incredibly wasteful, and we had tons of wash rags just collecting dust. We've definitely been putting them to use!

  75. Our family and our children's school both try to do everything we can to save the earth by recycling. We use our own reusable shopping bags at the stores we go to. We recycle milk jugs and egg crates. We save juice boxes and turn them into our school for the PTA. We turn our air up and open the windows to save energy.

  76. I help my boys be kind to Mother Nature by showing them what items can go into our compost bin (yeah for Sun Chips!). I've also started a special recycling area in our garage for semi harzardous material. We make gallon ice cream buckets into collection bins and we assigned each bucket with items like old batteries, compact light bulbs, old and expired medications, empty ink cartridges and empty pill bottles. Old batteries can be dropped off at our Annual Clean Sweep, bulbs at certain stores, police departments with old meds. and pill bottles to Walgreens to be sent off to 3rd World Countries. By involving the boys in these proper disposal practices while they are young I am certain that they will continue to be mindful as they grow older. We also have fun melting Crayola crayons and making new color creations in our Crayola Crayon Maker! The boys enjoy making them and sharing them with friends.
